Course Structure and Certification Requirements
This Learning Lab requires a weekly commitment of 3–6 hours, broken down as follows:
- Weekly Sessions (90 minutes, Tuesdays at 9:30am – 11am PDT): Interactive classes with practical, expert-led instruction
- Optional Office Hours (60 minutes, Thursdays at 10am – 11am PDT): Open Q&A for additional guidance and personalized support
- Homework Assignments: Practical exercises to reinforce each session’s topics
Active participation is key to earning your completion certificate. The final certification will be based on the following:
- Participation and Engagement: 45%
- Homework Completion: 25%
- Final Project: 30%
Attendance is recommended for each session, as more than two absences may impact certification eligibility.

Weekly Course Outline
Date: July 15, 2025
This week introduces the course and outlines the keys to a successful OPPE implementation. The session will focus on the foundational elements, including defining date ranges and creating report card templates. Students will also gain access to the questionnaire and project plan.
Homework: Complete the questionnaire and use the project plan to define date ranges and report card templates.
Date: July 22, 2025
The session explores various data sources integral to OPPE, including MD-Staff, Case Review, Facility Events, and Visit Data. Students will review library indicators and learn how to select the most appropriate ones for their needs.
Homework: Identify the sources of your data and review the library indicators, highlighting those you plan to use in your project.
Date: July 29, 2025
Students will learn how to troubleshoot indicators using tools like Ad Hoc reports, code groups, and the indicator builder. They will also explore importing indicators from the library or creating their own for visit data.
Homework: Bring a module spreadsheet to class next week to prepare for module indicator building.
Date: August 5, 2025
This week focuses on modules and the process of creating custom module indicators. Students will gather module data and apply their learning by testing the indicator-building process.
Homework: Continue working with your module data to refine the indicators you created in class.
Date: August 12, 2025
Conduct a hands-on review of sample module data, troubleshooting issues and finalizing their modules. This practical session ensures that indicators are functioning correctly.
Homework: Finalize your modules and thoroughly test all indicators before the next session
Date: August 19, 2025
This session introduces report card design, including defining competencies and thresholds. Students will begin building out their report card templates.
Homework: Continue building your report card templates and ensure all necessary components are included.
Date: August 26, 2025
Troubleshoot report card designs, working through various scenarios and participating in a Q&A session. This session is an opportunity to refine report cards and address challenges.
Homework: Further refine and enhance your report cards based on the feedback and scenarios discussed in class.
Date: September 2, 2025
The focus this week is on the OPPE workflow, including assigning report cards, starting cycles, and using Ad Hoc tools to analyze results. Students will begin documenting their workflow and preparing for final presentations.
Homework: Document your complete workflow and schedule a time slot for your final presentation.
Date: September 9, 2025
Explore options for sharing report card results, including merge templates, provider accounts, or Virtual Committee templates. The session provides practical demonstrations to help students finalize their sharing strategy.
Homework: Finalize your approach for sharing report card results and prepare your build accordingly.
Date: September 16, 2025
In this final session, present their completed projects in one-on-one settings. Each student will demonstrate their workflow from start to finish, including how they share and review their report cards.
Homework: Prepare your final presentation, ensuring that all aspects of your workflow and report card sharing process are complete and ready to demonstrate.

As a capstone to the course, you’ll present your OPPE workflow to MD-Stat specialists, showcasing your report card criteria, assignment processes, cycle management, and methods for sharing results with leadership and practitioners. This final presentation offers an opportunity for personalized feedback, reinforcing your expertise and earning you a certificate of completion.
